This article analyses the industrialisation process in Hazira, situated on the coastal belt of South Gujarat in India. The author sets out to gauge the impact of industrial development on land distribution, on the employment opportunities of local people, as well as on the environment. The views of different stakeholders - villagers and industrialists - are presented.
