Iman Hashim and Dorte Thorsen have written an original and thought-provoking book on voluntary child migration in Africa. The book is based on their survey of child migrants, both boys and girls, from two neighbouring regions – Pays Bisa in southern Burkina Faso and Bawku East District in northeastern Ghana. The children from these areas migrated to more prosperous destinations in Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and southern Ghana. The authors interviewed the children in both their areas of origin and destinations.
